About Us

The team behind the Self & Match System

Self & Match is a research-based self-monitoring and self-management intervention created by two Board Certified Behavior Analysts — flexible enough for learners of all ages across Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports in schools, clinics, and homes.

What is self-monitoring?

Self-monitoring teaches an individual to observe and record their own behavior. When paired with an accountability partner who 'matches,' it builds self-awareness, honesty, and independence — while giving educators and clinicians meaningful data. That pairing is the heart of the Self & Match System.

Learners self-monitor

During set check-in times, the learner rates their own behavior against a few clear, positively-framed questions.

Staff match

An accountability partner independently rates the same questions, then compares — a "match" reinforces honest self-reflection.

Everyone grows

Points and rewards make progress visible, while staff gain clean data on behavior trends over time.

How it works

Two roles, one goal

Self & Match works because the learner and an adult rate the same behavior — then compare.

A learner self-monitoring their behavior

The learner

Rates their own behavior honestly during each check-in — building self-awareness, reflection, and ownership.

A matcher confirming the learner's behavior

The matcher

An adult independently rates the same questions. When their answers match, accurate self-reflection is reinforced.
